Fly-ge-ma-skine

Fly-ge-ma-skine takes its starting point in a game that has become a small tradition between the grandparents, who speak only Serbian, and their grandchild, who speaks Danish and understands very little Serbian.

Through the game, they find their own ways of communicating and teach each other words from their respective languages. The mother acts as translator and mediator, while the game creates a shared space between two generations who otherwise struggle to communicate.

What initially appears playful and humorous also reveals the limitations that language and migration can create. Beneath the laughter lies an awareness of what cannot easily be translated: relationships, memories, cultural references, and a shared sense of belonging.

Fly-ge-ma-skine explores the space between generations, between those who left and those who stayed behind, and how language can both connect and divide us.
