Flora

In Flora, Pavlović explores migration through her friendship with a Cuban woman she met in Denmark. Both young women obtained their residency permits through marriage migration and found common ground in their shared experiences of stigmatisation, and exoticization as foreign women. Flora is a large photo collage of personal photographs from their early days in Denmark, depicting the women happy and dancing, surrounded by faceless men with flowers growing from their heads. These flowers come from Flora Danica, an important Danish botanical work from the Enlightenment era that presents the national flora as objects of both aesthetic and cultural value, closely linked to the formation of national identity.
